Bible School and Discipleship 101 have started, and I’m grateful for this opportunity to grow in the Word. My desire in this season is not just to gain knowledge, but to strengthen my foundations and allow what I learn to shape the way I live and follow Jesus.

In Discipleship 101, I’ve been thinking about what it really means to be a disciple. It’s about staying connected to God’s Word, loving others, and actually living it out. I was reminded that understanding doesn’t come from knowing alone, but from the Holy Spirit guiding and teaching us. Even the simplest truths matter when you go back to the basics; they help you live faithfully and also equip you to help others follow Jesus.

One thing that stood out to me in Discipleship 101 is not to overlook the basics. It’s easy to assume you already understand them, especially if you’ve grown up in the faith, but going back to these foundations brings clarity. It also helps me explain the gospel simply to others. I realize that knowing the Word is not only for my own growth. As the Bible says, we have been made new in Christ and given the ministry of reconciling others to God. So learning these foundations again equips me to help someone else understand what it means to follow Jesus.

For Bible School, my expectation for this first year is not only to increase in knowledge of the Word, but also that the Holy Spirit will help me understand how to apply it practically. We will be learning about subjects like faith, prayer, healing, biblical prosperity, righteousness, and new creation realities, and I don’t want these to remain concepts to me. I really want the Word to shape the way I live and the way I do things. The Bible is the guide to my life and it holds the answers to everything, so my desire is to understand the principles in it more clearly and allow them to become part of my daily life. I want to know the Word better, but also to grow in my relationship with the Lord as I learn it.

Another thing that stood out to me, especially when we started speaking about faith, is how central faith is to the life of a believer. The Bible says that the righteous live by faith, and that really struck me because everyone wants life; we want joy, freedom, and to truly feel alive. Yet people often trade the glory of God for things that cannot actually give life. It made me realize again that faith is not a small thing; it is a powerful force that God has placed in us. Through faith we choose to trust His Word above our surroundings, and we refuse to measure our lives by the system of the world. Instead, we live according to what God says is true.

To summarize, this season has made me realize how much there still is for me to learn in the Word of God. I want to keep strengthening my foundations and allow the Holy Spirit to reveal the Word to me so that it becomes real in my life. My desire is not just to know the Bible, but to let it shape the way I live and the way I think. I also want to know the Word well enough that when challenges come, I can stand on it and say, “It is written,” just as Jesus did. The Word is my defense and my guide, and I want to grow in living by it every day.
